| Farmer Sweetland, an old, lonely widower decides to marry again, but can't choose between 3 ladies. Because the farmer's maid, Araminta, is in love with him herself, she foils his efforts with the 3 women. Just when he is about to give up on love, Sweetland discovers that true love has always been with him in the person of Araminta. | Threadbare comedy that is notable for Hitchcock's bizarre sense of humor in several sequences, most notably in the elegant luncheon sequence that rapidly plummets into madness. Everything appears perfect when we begin, but then everything that can wrong, does go wrong. Once again, Hitchcock relies on visual storytelling rather than using title cards to propel the narrative. For Hitchcock "completists" only. |
